A FEW WORDS ABOUT

SPELTHORNE COUNCIL

MY THOUGHTS ON THE COUNCIL

I've been working closely with Spelthorne Borough Council on ways forward for the Borough and I've was encouraged by these results to stand for election to help create change for both communities. This Council has proven to be approachable, they listened and when it came down to it they've consistently backed petitions I argued were a danger to the community and had to be resolved.

This has been a real boost as its demanding work trying to learn the intricacies of Local Government and find ways through the bureaucracy, to ensure you get results. While I'm new to local politics and I'm sure I'll make mistakes along the way, having this kind of support and guidance is invaluable.

The bottom line is, I'm a proactive campaigner, they're a proactive Council and I look forward to continuing to work with Spelthorne Council. - To deliver the best results for our residents.

SPELTHORNE COUNCIL

Spelthorne Council Leader, Cllr Ian Harvey and the team at Spelthorne have delivered some outstanding results and achievements that belie the doom and gloom of Westminster in spite of years of austerity.

NO cuts. For the third year running, they have presented a balanced budget with NO cuts to services, NO use of reserves, NO disposal of assets and, for Band D properties, a below inflation increase in our share of Council Tax.

Whilst recognising that a viable Heathrow Airport is crucial to our future prosperity, the local economy and in particular those of our younger residents. They are also aware of the potential negative impacts and are working hard with Heathrow Airport to ensure the best overall outcome for our residents.

As I'm running similar campaigns to improve our areas and get the best deal from Heathrow Airport for Stanwell Moor and Stanwell and I’m committed to reducing airport blight, traffic blight, improving our schools and creating jobs. - It has been a pleasure to work alongside this hard working Council.

MANAGEMENT AND INVESTMENT

They've also made successful commercial property investments, which have put the Council on a firm financial footing, and protected all our services. Where they are now in a position to shift attention to providing new homes for our residents.

Over the next five years our Council plans to build over 600 homes, many of which will be ‘affordable’, for ‘key workers’ and for people on our housing register.

They're also promoting their Southern Light Rail scheme to provide a sustainable, affordable and low impact connection into Heathrow improving access for residents and boost the local economy.

This is all positive for the residents of the Borough and as they allie almost exactly to what I'm trying to achieve, it should be no surprise to anyone.

I support Spelthorne Borough Council to make positive changes and that's why I will continue to campaign for Stanwell Moor and Stanwell and I'm standing in the Stanwell North Ward on May 2nd 2019.
